Civitates´ Study to Understand Funding Landscape for Civil Society Organisations

Civitates recently commissioned an interesting study to gain a deeper understanding of the funding landscape for civil society organizations, which work tirelessly to protect and promote civic space across the European Union.

The aim of the study was to identify which countries, groups or types of activities aimed at defending civic space receive the most and the least funding. The mapping included both private foundations and public donors. In particular, the EU's Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values (CERV) program was included in the study.

The research was led by James Logan and confirmed significant changes and disruptions in funding. These changes included a number of donors adjusting their priorities.

This study offers an interesting perspective that may not necessarily align with our views.
