We are proud to announce that the Danube Participation Day has been selected as a Danube Strategy Flagship project for the third time. Following previous recognitions in 2022 and 2023, the event once again joins a selected group of initiatives that significantly contribute to the goals of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region (EUSDR).

The 1^ST NATIONAL PARTICIPATION DAY IN BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA took place on 13 May 2025 in Sarajevo. The NPD was organised in cooperation with the Directorate for European Integration and the Local Democracy Agency Mostar. It focused on the enlargement process and the role of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region (EUSDR) in accompanying Bosnia and Herzegovina on its way into the EU.

The Danube Civil Society Forum is proud to be an active stakeholder of the EUSDR and to closely cooperate with (also) this years´presidency, the Bosnian Presidency. In 2025 we are organizing two major events — a National Participation Day in May and the 12th Danube Participation Day in November, both in Sarajevo — with the valuable support of the Bosnian Presidency.

Foster Europe Foundation and the Danube Civil Society Forum participated in the Steering Group meeting of the PA10 "Institutional Capacity" of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region in Stuttgart on November 28-29. During the event, we presented the concept of National Participation Days (NPDs), which was recently awarded the EUSDR Flagship certificate.

The Engagement Day is an opportunity for stakeholders to engage with the EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region. Stefan Lütgenau, president of the Danube Civil Society Forum will also be among the distinguished speakers on the agenda.

The European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) is launching a call for expressions of interest, inviting representatives of employers' organisations, trade unions and civil society organisations from EU candidate countries[1] to participate in the EESC's pilot project and become "enlargement candidate members" (ECMs).

During the 10th Danube Participation Day, three exclusive afternoon workshops were held to define up to three main messages/priorities for the recovery/EU accession process. These messages/priorities can/should be implemented within the framework of the EU Danube Strategy or where the EU Danube Strategy can contribute.

How can we build a resilient society with the EU Danube Strategy? The Danube Participation Day participants discussed the role participation of civil society organisations plays in resilient territorial development in the Danube Region and how this can be supported within the Danube Strategy.

The Global Water Partnership (GWP) is a diverse, inclusive, multi-stakeholder partnership with 21 years of experience, pioneering and practicing an integrated approach to water resources management. In the Danube Region the GWP involve: Bulgaria, Hungary, Moldova, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia…

The core group of the DYN was already active at our 6th Danube Participation Day in 2019 in Romania, Bucharest.

DYN presented their (project) history and mission - the institutionalization of an open, transnational, trans-sectoral, independent and self-organized Youth Network in the Danube Region - last time in Kosice at the 11th Annual Forum of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region.

The 11th EUSDR Annual Forum, which will take place on 19-20 October 2022 and will be organised by the Ukrainian EUSDR Presidency jointly with the former Slovak EUSDR Presidency, the European Commission, the Danube Transnational Programme and the Danube Strategy Point.
