Stand Up for Europe and Democracy – A Call for Participation
We at the Danube Civil Society Forum (DCSF) office are delighted to share that we are part of the new initiative “Stand up for Europe and Democracy – A Sign of Unity”, launched within the Fit 4 Democracy project. The project is organized by ILEU e.V., an active and long-standing member of the DCSF.
This campaign builds on the success of earlier community-based initiatives such as “Bread Connects – Give a Sign of Friendship”, which showed that even small, everyday things can become powerful symbols of connection across borders. Bread, as a universal element of daily life, became a bridge between communities and a visible sign of friendship and solidarity.
Now, the Fit 4 Democracy project invites citizens across Europe to take part in a new action: a photo campaign that makes visible our shared commitment to Europe and democracy. Under the motto “I stand up for Europe and democracy”, people from all backgrounds are encouraged to join by simply:
Printing the prepared flyer,
Taking a photo while holding it,
Sending the photo along with the signed consent form to: democracy@ileu.net.
All collected photos will be brought together in a large mosaic – a visual symbol of democratic spirit, solidarity, and shared European values. This mosaic will be displayed online, across social media, and at various events of the Fit 4 Democracy project.
Who can join?
Everyone who identifies with the idea of a democratic, inclusive, and peaceful Europe – regardless of nationality, age, or background.
Why join?
Because together we can make visible how many people across Europe care about peace, participation, and community. Each photo is not just an image but a contribution to a wider message: that European civil society is strong, diverse, and united.
The DCSF is proud to contribute to this effort, standing side by side with ILEU and many partners across the continent.
👉 Take part today and add your voice to this sign of unity!
